About the memorial: An oaken board with a pediment at the head and a frieze at the foot. The pediment has a moulded cornice to each of the three edges, with plain dentils below. The tympanum is plain but has a wooden roundel at the centre bearing a metal badge of the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. Below the pediment is a broad frieze bearing a repeated rosette and triglyph motif and with a moulded cornice below. The main panel has a pilaster to each side and a metal plaque at the centre. The plaque has a depiction of an angel at the head bearing a laurel wreath in each hand and stationed above a moulded arch supported on demi-columns to each side which have plain bases and volute capitals. Beside each demi-column is a depiction of a serviceman with bowed head and with reversed arms and in the background is a biplane. At the foot is a shield with crossed lances and flags behind. Within the arch is an incised inscription in sentence-case gothic lettering. Below the plaque is a moulded cornice and at the foot of the memorial is a frieze with decorative ends and bearing a further metal plaque with an inscription in upright capital block lettering.
