About the memorial: This is an incomplete version of 295450. Please refer to that number. Village hall constructed as a memorial to Major Leighton. This report is derived from a report in the Hampshire War Memorials website dated 1986. The website for the Hall describes it as "modern" and "state of the art". I was unable to ascertain online whether tis means that the Hall has been reconstructed so that the original no longer exists, or that it has been modernised. Nor whether the plaque regarding its construction as a memorial is still there - certainly Mayr Leighton's name does not seem to appear on the hall website. Local knowledge called for.
