About the memorial: Originally a tall, upright, freestanding headstone on a base, but it has been laid flat on the ground. The grey granite headstone is roughly dressed and has a shallow arch top. The front face bears a polished surface with a nowy head and recessed sides and bears an incised inscription in upright capital block lettering. The oblong granite base has a chamfered top. The memorial is near the edge of the western boundary, on the frontage to Derby Road
