About the memorial: A tall, roofed calvary, positioned in front of the Kingsley Hall (parish hall), Fawcett Road, dedicated 18th March 1917, with about 120 names. From the Hampshire Telegraph and Post, 23rd March 1917: 'The Shrine - designed by Sir Charles Nicholson, Bart., and constructed by Mr. J. Crockerell in oak, with a panelled base bearing the names of the fallen and the inscription, "Rest Eternal grant them, Lord; and may Light Eternal perpetually enlighten them" - has a bronze figure of Christ upon the Calvary.'

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
