About the memorial: A memorial to Flying Officer Arnold Ricks, killed in a flying accident on Christmas Day 1928. Probably originally at St Bartholomew's Church - St Bartholomew's and St Matthew's combined after the war, and a new church dedicated to the Holy Spirit was built within the surviving shell of the bombed-out St Matthew's. Many fittings from St Bartholomew's were moved to the new church, but most of St Matthew's original fittings had been destroyed in the bombing.
