About the memorial: A horses' drinking fountain, dedicated 1911 on the Farnborough Road. Behind it is a new (2020) road appropriately named Beresford Close. This is a non-combat memorial, although Captain Beresford was a veteran of the Boer War. He was killed while leading his troops on exercises, attempting to save one of his men from a bolting horse. See also WMO/235949 for another memorial to the same man.
