About the memorial: St Peter's Chapel in the north aisle of the nave is totally dedicated as a war memorial. The chapel contains a length of walnut panelling separating the chapel from the main nave. The panelling contains individual panels as a Roll of Honour for the 235 local men who served. The central 3 panels record the in gold lettering the 43 men who died. The flanking names are painted in black lettering. Further along the panelling is the WW2 memorial panel. The walnut screen was designed by Charles Gere and made by Belgian refugee Alphonse Bal soon after the war. There is also a narrow arched stained glass window and a medieval canopy tomb which form part of the ensemble.
