About the memorial: White marble tablet bearing incised inscription verses, attached to a wall mounted black marble backboard. He was killed in the Battle of the Nile (or Aboukir Bay) 1798 which helped to thwart Napoleon's invasion of Egypt.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

THEIR REMAINS ARE / INTERRED UNDER THE VICARS SEAT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THIS / CHANCEL. SACRED ALSO TO THE MEMORY OF PETER WHITE THEIR / ELDEST SON, LATE MASTER'S MATE ON BOARD H.M.S. MINOTAUR / SEVENTY FOUR GUNS WHERE HE WAS SLAIN IN THE EVER MEMORABLE / BATTLE OF THE NILE AUGUST 1ST 1798 AGED 28 / AND TO THE MEMORY OF THEIR YOUNGEST SON PHILIP / LATE STAFF SURGEON IN THE BRITISH ARMY HAVING SERVED / HIS MAJESTY IN THE LATE WARS OF SPAIN AND PORTUGAL / AND IN THE EAST AND WEST INDIES HE DIED SEPTR 14TH 1823 AGED 44 AND HIS REMAINS LIE UNDERNEATH / THIS TABLET PLACED HERE BY HIS AND THEIR / AFFECTIONATE RELATIVES.
