About the memorial: Unadorned Latin cross atop eight-sided single tier base. Names and dedication incised on the faces of the base. The memorial was unveiled on the 12th November 1921 by Mrs. Ormerod, the wife of the former vicar of St Anne's, and was originally erected at the junction of Oldham Rd and Windmill St, Longsight, Royton. When the Broadway road was constructed the cross was re-sited on a traffic island in the middle of the junction until it was knocked down by a lorry in 1938 and it was eventually re-erected in a modified form in the churchyard of St. Anne's.
