About the memorial: Garden of Remembrance with a tree for each WW2 man killed, below which is a marble names dedication tablet for each man. Later a further tree and tablet was added for a Royal Ulster Constabulary Man killed in the troubles in the 1970's. See also WMO/261770 for the general Whiteabbey Memorial stone, added in 2013. Ypres Park was an estate (or 'colony') of houses built under the Homes for Heroes Scheme after WW1. During the WW1 Centenary Years the park was itself dedicated as a Memorial Park to those lost in BOTH World Wars (see the referenced video at 1:06:20). This was done under the auspices of the Centenary Fields programme organised by Fields in Trust and the Royal British Legion. This memorial is for sons of those heroes who were lost in WW2
