About the memorial: A brass plaque on a wooden backboard with the crests of the squadrons comprising the 390th Bomb Group and an inscription commemorating the planting of four trees in memory of over 5500 servicemen who served there. *A comprehensive search has been made of the stated location of the trees with a negative result nor did any volunteers have knowledge of them. Although images of the trees are included in the 'Reference' field History.

OVER 5500 U.S.SERVICEMEN, ASSIGNED TO THE 390TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP (H) / AND ITS SUPPORT UNITS, WERE HOUSED IN THIS VICINITY DURING THE PERIOD / JULY 1943 TO AUGUST 1945, (...) / THIS RED OAK AND THREE OTHER TREES NEARBY WERE PLANTED BY VETERANS / OF THE GROUP ON 7TH MAY 1995 TO MARK THEIR UNITS CONTRIBUTION TO A LASTING PEACE.
