About the memorial: Framed and glazed roll of honour. The inscription is printed in capital black lettering below a small green printed laurel wreath. The roll of honour has a timber setting with curtains either side amounting almost to a shrine. Presented 2014 by Slimbridge RBL

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Age shall not weary/ them, nor the years condemn./ At the going down of the Sun;/ And in the morning, We will remember them./ We will remember them./ The Kohima Epitaph:/ "When you go home,/ tell them of us and say -/ for your tomorrow/ we gave our to-day"./ WE SHALL REMEMBER THEM BY DAY AND IN THE NIGHT TIME, WE SHALL NOT FORGET./ tThis memorial plaque was presented to St John the Evangelist Church Slimbridge by/ Slimbridge branch of the Royal British Legion on 4th August 2014 in recognition of the/ centenary anniversary of the start of the First World War.
