(Across base of 3-paned window): TO THE GLORY OF GOD & IN MEMORY OF THE OLD BOYS OF ELLERAY PARK SCHOOL, WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR THIS WINDOW IS ERECTED BY THE PARENTS & PAST & PRESENT MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL UNDER J.M. STUART-EDWARDS M.A. & HIS WIFE KATHERINE. AD 1917

Accompanying framed roll of honour (fixed adjacent to window): THE "RESURRECTION" WINDOW THE WINDOW IS INTENDED TO REPRESENT AN EASTER MORNING IN EARLY SPRING. THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY HAS COME, THE GREY SKY IS MELTING INTO BLUE AND THE STARS ARE SCARCELY VISIBLE. THE SALLOW WILLOWS ARE IN BLOOM AND THE THRUSHES ARE SINGING; IT IS TOO EARLY IN THE YEAR AS YET FOR THE YOUNG ONES. ALL AROUND IN THE GREEN GRASS SPRING UP RED AND PURPLE ANEMONES, GROWING WILD AS THEY GROW IN THE HOLY LAND, AND IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE. "FOR LO, THE WINTER IS PAST, THE RAIN IS OVER AND GONE; THE FLOWERS APPEAR ON THE EARTH; THE TUNE OF THE SINGING OF BIRDS IS COME." THE TWO YOUNG KNIGHTS ARE AT THE OTHER SIDE OF DEATH AND ARE CONSCIOUS OF THE APPROACH OF THE RISEN LORD. HE IS THE VICTOR MONARCH, GIVING THE BLESSING OF PEACE. HIS HEAD IS CROWNED WITH THORNS, THEY ARE NO LONGER PAINFUL BUT ARE BLOSSOMING AND SENDING OUT YOUNG BUDS, HE BEARS IN HIS HAND THE BLOSSOMING OLIVE BRANCH. THE KNIGHTS ARE ARMED WITH THE SHIELD OF FAITH. THEY HAVE JOYFULLY LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES. THE WHOLE WINDOW IS MEANT TO GIVE THE IDEA OF GREAT HAPPINESS AND PEACE. "PRO DEO, PRO REGE, ET PRO PATRIA."
