About the memorial: Brick shelter with two rectangular, with segmental top, bronze dedicatory plaques mounted onto the masonry. The borders of the plaques incorporate both the Leek and the Daffodil. There is also a white marble tablet in the right hand corner. The original War Memorial, containing one World War OneMemorial Tablet to 80 men from Nantymoel was contstructed in 1925/26 as part of the Nantymoel Boys Club and Memorial Shelter, with a grant in 1923 from the Miners Welfare Fund of £3,000. The memorial Tablet was dedicated during the Official Openoing of the memorial Hall on the 22nd April 1927. On Friday 18th December 1931, HRH Prince George laid a memorial Wreth on the memorial tablet. In 1953 a new Memorial Shelter was built by the Nantymoel Recreation Association in the current form we see today. A Dedication Service took place on Sunday 9th November 1953. The second Memorial Tablet, in the style of the first 1927 Tablet was erected by public Subscription by the residemts of Nantymoel and publically dedicated on Saturday 8th November 1958, the Tablet being unveiled by two members of Nantymoel Boys Club, Peter John Gibson and James Luff.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
