Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

IN 1806 HE ENTERED/ INTO THE ARMY AND WAS PRESENT THE FOLLOWING YEAR/ AT THE SEIGE AND CAPTURE OF COPENHAGEN./ HE AFTERWARDS SAILED WITH SIR JOHN MOORE TO GOTTENBURGH/ AND FROM THENCE TO PORTUGAL:/ HE TRAVERSED THAT KINGDOM AND SPAIN AS FAR AS SALAMANCA: ENDURED THE HARDSHIPS OF THE RETREAT WITH THE GREATEST FORTITUDE,/ AND CARRIED THE KING'S COLOURS AT THE MEMORABLE BATTLE OF CORUNNA. HE WENT UPON THE EXPEDITION TO ZEALAND WHERE HE BEHELD THE FALL OF/ FLUSHING; WAS IN GARRISON AT GIBRALTAR, AND THENCE REMOVED TO CUETA/ WHERE, ANXIOUS TO DISTINGUISH HIMSELF IN THE FIELD OF HONOUR, HE/ HASTENED TO JOIN THE ARMY SERVING UNDER LORD WELLINGTON BEFORE BADAJOZ,/ IN STORMING WHICH FORTRESS APRIL THE 6TH 1812,/ HE RECEIVED A MUSQUET BALL THRO' HIS THIGH,/ OF WHICH WOUND TO THE UNIVERSAL REGRET OF HIS REGIMENT HE DIED SIX DAYS LATER IN THE 22ND YEAR OF HIS AGE/ AND HIS REMAINS WERE HONOURABLY INTERRED ON THE RAMPARTS/ WHERE HE SO GLORIOUSLY FELL.// WHAT THO' THY BONES, LAMENTED FREDERIC, LIE/ BENEATH THE ASPECT OF A FOREIGN SKY:/ ' MID BADAJOZ' RAMPARTS WITH NO STONE TO TELL/ OR MARK THE SPOT WHERE YOUTHFUL VALOUR FELL:/ YET TO HIGH HEAV'N OUR THANKS WE STILL RETURN/ FOR SHELTER NOBLER THAN THE SCULTUR'D URN.
