Memoria in Aeterna This tablet is dedicated to the Pilot and crew of Blenheim L8665 based at Manston who died at 11.55 am on the 8th August 1940 during the Battle of Britain. When the aircraft was attacked and set on fire, the pilot deliberately steered, the burning aircraft, away from the town centre to prevent civilian casualties and all were killed when the aircraft crashed into the sea beyond the Royal Harbour. The townspeople of Ramsgate will remember forever their supreme sacrifice in averting a greater disaster.
