About the memorial: Wall mounted, portrait orientated, rectangular white marble tablet, with incised inscription picked out in black. The tablet is placed within a decorative Gothic styled, blind window with a crocketed canopy, castellations across the top and tall crocketed spire finials.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

IN A VAULT/ BENEATH THE VESTRY LIES THE BODY OF/ THE HONOURABLE JOHN MONCKTON,/ WHO DIED AT HIS SEAT FINESHADE ABBEY NORTHAMPTONSHIRE/ ON THE 3RD OF JANUARY 1830,/ AGED 91./ HE WAS THE THIRD SON OF JOHN FIRST VISCOUNT GALWAY BY HIS/ SECOND WIFE JANE DAUGHTER OF HENRY WESTENRA ESQUIRE OF/ QUEEN'S COUNTY IRELAND (ANCESTOR OF THE PRESENT LORD ROSSMORE)/ HIS FATHER HAVING FIRST MARRIED THE LADY ELIZABETH MANNERS/ DAUGHTER OF JOHN SECOND DUKE OF RUTLAND BY WHOM HE HAD WILLIAM/ THE SECOND VISCOUNT HIS SUCCESSOR, AND ROBERT A GENERAL, IN THE/ ARMY, WHO WAS SECOND IN COMMAND UNDER GENERAL WOLFE IN THE/ MEMORABLE BATTLE OF QUEBEC, AND AFTERWARDS CAPTURED/ THE ISLAND OF MARTINIQUE IN 1762/ THE OTHER CHILDREN BY THE SECOND MARRIAGE WERE HENRY WHO/ FELL AT THE BATTLE OF MONMOUTH COURT HOUSE IN AMERICA/ ON THE 28TH JUNE 1778./ EDWARD WHO SETTLED AT SOMERFORD IN THE COUNTY OF STAFFORD/ AND MARY COUNTESS OF CORK AND ORRERY, HE MARRIED ANNE,/ SISTER AND HEIRESS OF MAJOR THOMAS ADAMS, BY WHOM HE HAD/ FIRST JANE,/ SECOND MARY ANNE WIFE OF GENERAL SIR GEORGE PIGOT BART OF/ PATSHULL PARK STAFFORDSHIRE, AND THE THIRD ELEANOR COUNTESS/ OF HARBOROUGH/ THE SAME VAULT/ WITH THE HONOURABLE JOHN MONCKTON, AND DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF/ ANNE HIS WIFE WHO DIED ON THE 21ST SEPR 1807, AND/ JANE HIS ELDEST DAUGHTER WHO DIED UNMARRIED 17TH APRIL 1805./ ALSO OF/ THE REVD HUGH MONCKTON,/ HIS NEPHEW, SEVENTH SON OF THE HONOURABLE EDWARD MONCKTON,/ WHOSE DEATH IS RECORDED IN A SEPERATE TABLET IN THE CHANCEL./ AND OF/ JOHN MONCKTON ESQR,/ THIRD SON OF THE ABOVE HONOURABLE EDWARD MONCKTON,/ LATE OF THE EAST INDIA COMPANY BENGAL CICIL SERVICE, AND/ RESIDENT AT THE COURT OF OUDE, WHO SUCCEEDED BY PURCHASE TO/ THE LORDSHIP OF THIS MANOR AND THE OTHER ESTATES OF HIS UNCLE/ THE HONOURABLE JOHN MONCKTON,/ HE DIED IN LONDON ON THE 14TH OF JUNE 1852/ AGED 71.
