About the memorial: A dark brown wooden cross , all the edges shaped into opposing curves , except for the lower part of the upright which is straight sided . The cross is set on a white backboard , outlined in dark green and with light brown square panels at the intersections of the upright and cross member , both of the cross and the backboard .There is a dedicatory tablet on each side of the lower part of the upright . the backgound white the text in grey and outlined in light brown . At the base of the upright and attached to it is a full colour coat of arms . These three , ie the cross and tablets are related and treated as one memorial .Below the cross is a further memorial tablet which is not part of the composite memorial . 2nd Lt Strutt died of wounds while a prisoner of German forces who constructed and dedicated the wooden cross .

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Strutt, on shaft 2 Lt Strutt R Scots –/ some of dedication placed by German forces , likely some by British forces .
