Unto us you left/ The memory of your love to glorify/ The land for which you died. These gentle woods/ And quiet English hills were dear to you/ And hold a deeper tenderness for us/ Because you loved them . . ./ By your great love we vow/ Our service in the cause of peace, and lay/ The bond before you to be purified/ That, by your death, our quest be sanctified./ M.
