About the memorial: A pair of red brick and stucco dwellings with Bridgwater tiled roof. Built in 1904, on land that was purchased from the Crown near the Regimental barracks/depot. Architect: Major A J Randell. Contractor: Mr William Webb of Bromham. These cottage homes were opened by Lady Pembroke on 24th November 1904, and orovided rent-free accommodation for injured ex-servicemen and their families. Stone plaque on the main (front) elevation containing the regimental crest, with the words "Cottage Homes 1904".

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Inside each cottage was a metal plaque containing the following: "This cottage for disabled men of the Wiltshire Regiment was founded in 1904 in memory of Prince Christian Victor and officers and men of the Wiltshire Regiment who were killed in action or died during the war in South Africa, 1899 to 1902".
