About the memorial: According to the research notes for Colin McIntyre's book "Monuments of War - How to read a War Memorial", published 1990,the original memorial was a marble tablet. However, he asserted that this tablet was cut in half, and the right hand side discarded, to make a new doorway. When he produced his notes, some time before 1990, the left hand side of the marble tablet survived with 18 names and the right hand side had been replaced by a parchment roll of honour with 12 names. However, the more recent IWM Register entry states that there is a "Rectangular printed list of names inset into the original wooden door of the vestry.". This was stated to have 12 names. There is a need for someone to visit this location to verify the present situation.
