About the memorial: The 3ft by 2ft brass plaque was discovered around February 2002 by a member of Allestree Royal British Legion at a house in London Road, Derby, as it was undergoing refurbishment. It names 19 people who gave their lives during the 1914 to 1918 war. It was assumed that the plaque had come from the demolished St Andrew's Church which stood nearby, but the names had links with Victoria Street Congregational Church - now the Central United Reformed Church. Consequently, it was rededicated in a ceremony at the church on 18th May 2002. The memorial was recently sold by Hanson's auction house in 2020.
