About the memorial: Bronze statue of a Grenadier Guard with bowed head resting his hands on upturned rifle , in full battle order, set on a plinth three sides of which record the names of casualties - a frontal plaque has the main inscription on it. Set in a garden within the castle grounds and consecrated , unveiled on August 24th, 1923. The lawns flanking the cenotaph were dedicated, on Saturday 23rd June 1956 as a Garden of Remembrance to Clitheroe men and women who gave their lives in three wars. The garden also contains a plaque listing the names of casualties of the Boer War and one from the troubles in Ireland.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
