  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: The church has been converted into a block of flats. The fate of the memorial is unknown but a conversation with a neighbour revealed that pressure from local residents and heritage groups had ensured that the church and its pricipal artefacts had been saved and respectfully conserved. It was not possible to get inside the private residences, but it seems that local people have ensured adequate preservation..When the photograph was taken, Major Coleman was assured by the workmen onsite that because of the building's listed status the memorial, seen resting against a wall, would be restored to its proper position before the conversion was completed. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that this memorial is oin fact the missing memorial from Boscombe Congregational Church, whnich may have been transferred hee when the two churches merged in 1985.
