About the memorial: Post Office War Memorial: A wooden panelled room with names of those who served on one side and photographs of those who died on an adjoining wall. The Royal Coat of Arms is placed above those who served. The room is believed to remain in situ behind some 1980s false walling. This remembers all those who fought in addition to those who died. (See PO Magazine Vol 14; p253 + SMLG 1920; p151 + other archive references The Blytye Street office is an Historic England Listed Building whose entry record "An office adjacent to the entrance hall was adapted in the early 1920s as a war memorial room; its fittings were removed in the 1980s." The building is now used as a store by the Victoria and Albert Museum

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
