About the memorial: Quintin Boat Club was founded by the Regent Street Polytechnic, now University of Westminster. The rowing tank and the wooden building to house it were built by Polytechnic rowers as a memorial to members who died in the Great War. By the 1970s the building had become dilapidated and was demolished and replaced by a brick and concrete building whilst leaving the tank itself inside. By 1950 the commemorative board had been moved to the clubroom of the boathouse. In 2009 the building was converted from a rowing tank into a gym.
