The memorial was originally located in the Two Ships Hotel on Queens Street in Rochdale. The hotel was demolished in the mid-1930s and the memorial was moved to the new Two Ships pub at 54 Hope Street in Rochdale. In 2002, the Two Ships pub was closed and the owner removed the memorial and put it into storage until a suitable new home could be identified. In 2009, the Fusiliers Museum in Bury gave the memorial a new home.
