About the memorial: Reredos with dedicatory plaque. Dedicated firstly to the family of Enos Charnock. Also to boys he taught in his capacity as schoolmaster, organist and choirmaster. who fell in the war.

THIS REREDOS WAS ERECTED BY ENOS CHARNOCK/ SCHOOL MASTER ORGANIST AND CHOIRMASTER 1878:1911./ TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND FOR THE BEAUTIFYING OF THIS SANCTUARY/ AND IN MEMORY OF HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN/ DINAH ELIZABETH CHARNOCK SCHOOLMISTRESS 1878:1903/ DIED NOVEMBER 2ND 1914 AGED 64 YEARS/ HENRY MONCRIEF CHARNOCK DIED MARCH 24TH 1900 AGED 23 YEARS/ ELSIE LINSAY CHARNOCK DIED MARCH 7TH 1903 AGED 19 YEARS/ AND THE BOYS UNDER HIS CARE WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914:1918/ OVER SEVENTY OF WHOM JOINED H.M. FORCES FOR THE LOVE OF THEIR/ GOD AND COUNTRY. OF THESE EIGHTEEN MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/ (NAMES)
