About the memorial: Attached to the south side of the summerhouse in the grounds of Northcott House Nursing and Residential Care Home. A set of six, tall, brass plaques with names in uppercase incised lettering inset into a wooden panel, on either side of a glass fronted cabinet with lists of names. The 4 panels on the left are for WW1 and the two panels on the right for WW2. Underneath the cabinet is a small plaque with WW1 dedication. The panels were originally in Clarence Square Council School Gosport, abandoned, found, and rehoused at Northcott House in 1990.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

[WW1 dedication plaque] Erected by teachers, scholars, parents and friends in ever grateful memory / of the above named former scholars of Clarence Square Council School / (embracing also the original church schools of St. Matthew's and Holy / Trinity) who heroically gave up their lives in the Great War 1914-1919 / and as an inspiration to all present and future scholars to so live / as to be worthy of the great sacrifice which they have made.
