About the memorial: Ramsgate Peace memorial - hospital outpatients department. "On 1st January, 1848, the Seaman’s Infirmary was founded at Ramsgate. In 1909 the existing buildings were opened as the Ramsgate General Hospital. Proposed extensions to the hospital include an Outpatient and Casualty Department, estimated to cost £50,000."

Across top of entrance: Ramsgate Peace Memorial 1945 right: at a town meeting held on 23rd july 1945 under the chairmanship/ of the mayor, councillor the reverend harcourt samuel jp, it was/ decided that the ramsgate peace memorial should be the new/ outpatient department of this hospital left: this foundation stone was laid by hrh the duchess of kent/ ci, gcvo, cbe, on 19th may 1948
