About the memorial: The war memorial in the village of Allendale, Northumberland, in the north Pennines, is an oak-framed lychgate on low sandstone walls with a clay-tiled pitched roof and oak side panels which are inscribed and decorated. The front elevation has a wooden cross on the gable framing and all the wooden panels have quatrefoil decorations in the corners. The lychgate stands at the entrance to St. Cuthbert’s churchyard.The 1990s photograph predates the restoration work undertaken in 2006 Recent photographs would be greatly appreciated
