About the memorial: Beautifully illuminated framed certificate bordered by full colour depictions of emblems from various Manx organisations and public services, and signed with the common seal of the Borough. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Certificate reads as follows: 'At a meeting of the / Douglas Borough Council / held in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, / Ridgeway Street, Douglas, on Wednesday / the 13th day of December 2000 / It was agreed that the Council records its appreciation / and honours with profound gratitude the gallant efforts / of all those residents of the Borough in serving their country / in the Armed Forces of the Crown, the Merchant Marine and / other public services in preserving our freedom in wars and other / conflicts both at home and abroad during the twentieth century. / It was further agreed that this grateful acknowledgement of / their contribution to their country's interests and the preservation / of its peaceful and democratic way of life should be properly recorded / in the proceedings of the said Douglas Borough Council. / In witness whereof the following signatures are appended hereto / under the common seal of the Borough / Doreen Kinrade - Mayor / David King - Town Clerk.'
