Comments:
The memorial no longer appears to be in the good clean state shown in earlier photos on this website. The WWI names on the four sides of the plinth remain readable but the WWII names on the two side oblong stones are almost unreadable. That may be in part because they are close to the ground, but the stones have also become messy and the inscribed names are are in a deterioratimg state. I anticipate that the 2017 WMT grant was to replace the general inscription around the top step by placing newly cut inscribed stones in front of the existing stones. The letters in the new incised inscription were then painted black and are wholly readable save for "1939-45" which may not have been painted at all and is barely readable. Sadly the surrounding ground is rather unkempt. Photos sent via WMT will follow.
