Comments:
On Wednesday 26th of June, children of St Peter in Thanet CE Junior school conducted a condition survey with the help and support of Historic England. Since the last condition survey (2 years ago), the tiles on the plaque have deteriorated and sections of them are missing making some names illegible. In particular, J Murphy is very difficult to read and is in danger of being lost. The edges of the majority of tiles are showing further damage (peeling and flaking) and in need of repair and protection. The external base, around the flower boarder, is becoming unsafe and sections may fall down because the pointing is deteriorating due to weathering. Also, the flowerbed is unsightly and weeds are starting to take over and grow through the brick.
