Comments:
Thirteen years after my first visit in 2011 I have revised my opinion for the following reasons. Structurally the memorial is sound. There is significant lichen encroachment but this does not affect the legibility. One of the difficulties with the legibility is that you have to squeeze between the memorial and a metal fence with sharp points which blocks a ten foot drop. Once in position you can read the raised inscription quite easily and the incised names without too much difficulty. The incised lettering would need to be recut to enhance legibility and even then the colouring of the stone might minimise the effect.
