Comments:
The clock faces are in reasonable condition, as far as can be seen from the ground, how ever the winding mechanism cabling could do with looking at as periodically the wires twist preventing the weights from being raised. We are able to overcome this by keeping the mechanism wound, but sometimes it's not possible due to holiday clashes etc. The cables have become tangled twice in the past twelve months as the weights were allowed to run to the bottom of the tower, this has effected the layering of the cables on the drums, which means the cables don't wind smoothly onto the drums. A check of the running mechanism by a suitably qualified person hasn't been carried out for at least five years, fortunately the two people who try to keep on top of it have a mechanical background and can sort most things out. But we do feel that it is time (no pun intended) for a professional to take a look at it.
