Comments:
Whilst it is recognised that there has been recolonisation of lichen these are not harmful and at present the inscriptions remain legible. Due to the rural location of the memorial recolonisation by lichen is inevitable and there is no appropriate way to stop this happening. It is important to ensure that cleaning of deposits is well timed and not undertaken too frequently as this can result in damage to the stone. As the memorial was last cleaned in 2017 it would not be recommended to undertake this work again so soon. Considering the above delicate balance War Memorials Trust has upgraded the condition level to fair at this time.
