Barkway War Memorial has been awarded a grant of £7,220 from the War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme supported by the First World War Memorials Programme. The funding will contribute 75% towards the cost of the renovation work now needed. Work will include the cleaning of the memorial stone and paved surround, the realignment of the displaced plinth stone and the carrying out of mortar repairs to the plinth and base, the restoration of the World War II plinth and the lifting and relaying of the surrounding York Stone paving and steps, replacing any damaged stonework. Work commenced on 28 September 2017
