Comments:
I organise the local remembrance services at the site and along with a local resident who takes it upon himself to act as a voluntary custodian of the memorial, throughout the year, we are concerned about the deterioration of the memorial which is positioned on top of the highest point in Plymstock and exposed to the elements on 3 sides. The granite cross has several cracks running through it at the base of the pillar and the bottom of the cross itself. Pointing is missing from pretty much all areas of the steps forming the base of the monument and from around the brass name plaques and the monument faces. The plaques themselves are suffering from exposure with some covered in verdigris and almost illegible in some areas.
