There has been recent reliability issues, which are relating to issues with the hands and face mechanisms.

These are different components and not relating to the main clock mechanism that was restored with WMT support in 2014.

The way to correct the problem with the dial motionworks is to manufacture two supports for the outer tube of the dial motionworks and fix them with the dial motionworks support tube in the correct position which will allow the hands to rotate freely and evenly around the dial.
To carry this out, the hands would have to be removed from the dial motionworks, this also gives the opportunity to carry out the other works at the same time. That is to straighten the bent minute hand, also being as the hands are removed it also gives the opportunity to remove, fully dismantle and service the dial motionworks which can only be carried out with the hands removed.

It should be noted that the memorial is visible, but the mechanism is obviously in the clock tower which is not accessible to members of the public.

A maintenance contract is in place with a expert company in clock maintenance and restoration.
