Comments:
Materials are stable and appear to be quite well maintained but some deterioration is visible. There is some plant growth and moss/lichen present. There is mortar missing from some joints. The stonework does not appear to have been damaged by soot or pollution, although there is notable weathering. Lettering and decorative elements are, on the whole, well defined and legible. There is no evident damage by vandalism or graffiti. The surrounding area is largely clear of litter and appears to be maintained at intervals but it does not seem to be frequently and actively managed. Paving and steps appear to be secure. The memorial is enclosed by fencing or walls on all sides which allows visitors to get close at the front but not to touch the memorial. It sits close to the road at a mini-roundabout junction for two B-roads and the pavement is not generous.
