Comments:
This memorial is largely hidden behind curtains on one side of the nave/chancel area at the redundant church now used as an arts centre. . Public access is therefore poor though The Director of the Arts Centre was very happy to show it to me. All 118 names are readable but in gloomy light it was very difficult to read the general description commemorating these WWI dead. A few words could do with repainting and there are a few chips around the plaque edges.A general clean is desirable. At the side of the memorial is a door leading into the former Warriors Chapel and now used for staff purposes. Within that room remain on the walls alabaster (/) sculpures of a soldier and sailor. They would once have been either side of the now remoived altar. Anthony Bradbury 4th June 2021
