Comments:
Damaged beyond repair: Demolished and replaced October 2019. New memorial ref: WMO267000 The original memorial is of interest as it was of an unusual and bespoke fabrication. Anecdotal accounts suggest it was created by a Burma Campaign veteran and local tradesman specialising in Terrazzo. Terrazzo here is a precast composite material, often used for floor and wall treatments. It consists of chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable material, poured with a cementitious binder. Age and an exposed coastal location have taken a toll on the memorial which has been replaced with a new memorial simpathetic to the materials and processes used in the original.
