Comments:
My previous assessment was made in error. This entire section of the Churchyard is inaccessible due to severe undergrowth. The plot plan seems to indicate it could be accessed from behind the Church but in fact there is an impenetrable vertical slope there. Access would be through Section F, but the undergrowth is too heavy. From above one or two gravestones can be seen to be in situ in the section, but judging from the rest of the graveyard are unlikely to be in legible condition. To find the gravestone it is necessary to use the plot plan which is available in book form in the Church and take that book out to site, as it is impossible to describe the location in this heavily overgrown Churchyard. An expanded version of the book is also available in Whitehaven Archives. This was compiled in 1982 since when the steeply sloping Churchyard has become totally overgrown to the point where it is dangerous to explore it.
