Comments:
Damage and fading to the paper scroll have made some of the names illegible, particularly towards the bottom of the scroll. On inspection, the scroll appears to have been in this condition for some time and is not a recent deterioration. During my visit (on Churches Open Day), I spoke to a member of the PCC who was very aware of the fading and has been trying to research the names of the soldiers that were still legible in case there was any further deterioration. The scroll is stored inside a well-maintained church so I have no reason to believe the scroll will deteriorate any further.
