Comments:
The church was locally known as The Baptist Cathedral of the north due to its size, which is why the current church on the same site looks so small for the size of the site. The old church had to be demolished at some speed due to structural problems (unfortunately the IWM register has lost my detailed notes on this matter). From a review of the press reports of the demolition, a thorough search of the current church and discussions with both the Church elders and at the Town's Maritime Museum it seems to be quite clear that the memorial was lost in that demolition.
