Following a concern WMT reached out to the custodians of the memorial regarding the staining to the stone. The Trust has been advised that the condition is regularly monitored and appears to be stable. It is likely that this was caused by historic water ingress which has since been addressed. As such, given that any works risk causing damage if the war memorial is stable and not getting worse, it is better to leave it as it is, monitor and be ready to act if it gets worse.
