Comments:
Members of Winsham Parish Council as well as members of the public have looked at the Memorial in the spring of 2021. Local contractors have assessed the Memorial’s condition as ‘Fair’ but I would classify it as 'Poor' for the following reasons: 1. The lettering is illegible to hard to decipher in places, especially on the North side, and will need re-doing by a craftsperson; only the WW2 lettering is clear (see images "Winsham lettering" 1-4). 2. The Ham Stone of the Monument has surface discolouring (see image "Winsham memorial". 3. The lowest and middle steps on the Western Way side of the memorial look to be loose and the paving slabs are heavily cracked, the steps are uneven and the pointing is in poor condition (see images "Winsham steps" 1, 3, 4) 4. The surrounding wall also needs attention (see images "Winsham memorial" and "Winsham steps and wall" 1).
