About the memorial: Proposed by our Petitioner Charles John Ernest Parker of Lindshott House, Greyshott, Hants, Esq. To provide and place a memorial tablet on the south wall of the Lady Chapel between the two easternmost windows of the parish church of Grantham. Memorial tablet to be of Alabaster about three feet by about two feet six inches with the following inscription namely. “Ye who read this remember Rupert Hardy Parker, Lieutenant, 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action at Passchendaele. Flanders, December 21st 1917 aged 22 years. Only son of C.J.E. Parker, formerly of Grantham and of Louise his wife. My heart is towards who offered themselves willingly among the people that jeoparded their lives unto death in the high places of the field” Judges v “Requiscent in Pace” Faculty Book 13, page 430, 13-1-1920 Unveiled by the Vicar, the Rev. Canon Hancock on Thursday 18th November, the newspaper differs from the faculty in that the report reads: “Ye who read this remember Rupert Hardy Parker, Lieutenant, 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action at Passchendaele. Flanders, 2nd December 1917 aged 22 years. Only son of C.J.E. Parker, formerly of Grantham and of Louise his wife. My heart is towards who offered themselves willingly among the people that jeoparded their lives unto death in the high places of the field” Judges v “Requiscent in Pace” Grantham Journal 20 November 1920, page 8.
